Mission Statement

        The purpose of Christian Outreach School is to provide a Christ-centered environment for the pursuit of excellence in education, discipling each student to conform to the image of Jesus Christ, and to make Jesus Lord in every life situation.

        In order to accomplish this as we serve Christian families in the greater Jefferson County area through our program for children and youth (K- 12), without discrimination on the basis of race, gender, national and ethic origin, or physical disability, COS submits that it must provide an education that is:

1. In accordance with the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, the very Word of God, inspired, inerrant, and infallible;
2. An extension of the home submitting to the authority of the Christian Outreach Church leadership who, together with the parents, is accountable to God for the fulfillment of His injunction to bring up our children "in the nurture (training) and admonition (discipline/instruction) of the Lord" (Eph. 6:4).  Additionally, its commission is to equip parents to achieve God's order for the family.

         Our goal, by the grace of God, is to lead each student to a personal commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to encourage each student to maximize his God-given potential by pursuing excellence in spiritual growth, academics, athletics and physical fitness, fine arts, and vocational arts toward fruitful service to his community, his nation, the church, and Kingdom work world wide (Eph. 2:8-10).
 

Philosophy

        At Christian Outreach School (COS) we believe that we are an extension of the Christian home, providing nurturing, training and discipling in the Word of God for each child that participates in our academic programs.  The church, Christian school and the home provide the basis for the physical, academic and spiritual development of the child.  Our collective goal is that once the student has completed his or her educational years at COS that they be ready to make a positive contribution to society and be effective "...witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8b, NIV)
       In Proverbs 22:6, we are called to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Our ultimate goal in providing Christian education is that each child discover God's perfect plan and purpose for their life.
        The Word of God will be our standard in developing Godly character and instilling Biblical principles throughout all of our core educational programs.

• Relationship to Christian Outreach Church

        As an extension of the home, COS submits to the authority of the Christian Outreach Church leadership, who, together with the parents, is accountable to God for the fulfillment if His injunction to bring up children "in the nurture (training) and admonition (discipline/instruction) of the Lord" (Eph. 6:4).  Additionally, its objective is to help equip parents to achieve God's order for families.
• Reaching Out to Jefferson County

        Serving families with a strong commitment to Christian education, COS enrolls children whose parents attend Christian churches throughout Jefferson County.  Founded by Dave Lorenz in 1977 with Grades K through 6, COS added one class each year until the first senior class was graduated in 1984.
• High Standards

        Acknowledging the Bible as the basis for all truth and life values, COS maintains high standards, encouraging each student to maximize his own God-given potential in spiritual growth, academics, athletics and physical fitness, fine arts, and vocational arts, resulting in fruitful service to his community, his nation, the church and kingdom work worldwide.
• Teachers are Role-Models

        COS employs educators whose commitment is to model as well as teach Christ-like character qualities to their students.  Because the majority of COS students are motivated to excel, the entire student body is influenced by this positive attitude offered in a family-like atmosphere of personal, caring relationships.
• Distinguished Alumni

        Many of our alumni have distinguished themselves in the following areas: success in the job market, excellent performance on college entrance exams, receiving major scholarships, graduating from colleges and universities with honors, and choosing service-oriented professions-- notably education.  Better than eighty percent of COS graduates continue on to earn post secondary degrees.
• Entrance Policy

        COS is a Christian school for Christian students.  Our purpose is to disciple them for mature Christian service.  Therefore, applicants must have made a commitment to Christ as Savior and Lord before they can be accepted into the school.  Similarly, since COS is an extension of the home, the parents or guardians must be committed to Christ and be active members of a Christian church.
• Bible-Based

        Our courses of training are anchored firmly in Scripture.  All teaching must be in accordance with the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, with the conviction that they are the very words of God, inspired, inerrant, and infallible for all life and practice.
• Non-discriminatory Policy

        Christian Outreach School does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, national and ethnic origin, or physical disability, in administration of its educational policies or school sponsored programs.  The school does reserve the right to appropriate selection criteria in fulfillment of its stated purpose and objectives.
• Parent Participation

        Because education is first the parents' responsibility, COS encourages active participation by the parents in the school's academic and extra-curricular life.  Parents accompany the students on field trips, class trips, and serve as resource personnel in the classroom.  They also contribute four hours per month in school related projects to help lower tuition.
• Affiliations

        COS is a charter member of the Oral Roberts University Educational Fellowship, and is provisionally accredited with the International Christian Accrediting Association, an affiliate of ORUEF.  In addition, COS is an active member of SLMCAA (St. Louis Metro Christian Athletic Association), and CSAMSL (Christian School Administrators of Metro St. Louis).
• Location

        Christian Outreach School is located on the campus of the Christian Outreach Center, in Goldman (six miles north of Hillsboro), Missouri.  Take highway 21, turn East on Goldman Road.  Follow Goldman about 0.5 miles to stop sign (Old LeMay Ferry).  Go left about 1000 feet.  Turn left onto COC driveway.
